Geriatric Telemedicine

Geriatric Care Australia (GCA) understands that making the trip to see a specialist doctor can be challenging, especially for those living in rural/regional areas or those living at home supported by home care providers. GCA believes that geography should never be a barrier to accessing medical care, and we bridge this gap through the aid of Telemedicine.
Telemedicine utilises telecommunications and electronic information to support health care delivery when face-to-face consultations are not available. Using video, our geriatricians are able to provide Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments, to homes, retirement villages, and aged care facilities, who would otherwise need to travel 100’s of kilometres for specialised medical support.
We provide this service with no charge (bulk billed) and ensures that a geriatrician is available to provide consultative services within days, rather than waiting weeks-months for an appointment. By collecting data through Telemedicine consultations, we aim to prove that specialised geriatric care can improve patient, hospital, and facility outcomes.
