Our Mission

Geriatric Care Australia offers every older Australian, irrespective of geographic location, culture, financial status, or background, with access to specialist aged care medical services onsite or via Telemedicine.
By bridging this gap, we aim to truly improve the quality of life, wellbeing, and health of all older Australians.

Our Story

At Geriatric Care Australia (GCA), we are passionate about improving access to care.

Currently a disconnect exists between rhetoric and reality, with many older Australians unable to access the specialist medical support they need. GCA was created to offer every older Australian with access to bulk-billed specialist geriatric medical care in order to improve the lives of older persons.

In addition to access to geriatrician support, GCA continually strives to improve clinical insights in order to improve outcomes. This includes a Model of Care that  provides ongoing education, translational research, government funded projects, data-driven outcomes and pioneering the use of digital health in Aged Care.

Our Values

At GCA we keep ‘PACE’ with the needs of the community to ultimately drive models of care that are patient centred to improve health outcomes for Older Australians.

P = Progressive - we utilise technology to support the facilitation of care and ultimately improve patient experience.

A = Accessible - we are passionate about providing readily available specialist services for all older Australians.

C = Comprehensive - having a thorough understanding of all our patients needs so we can assess and improve outcomes that matter.

E = Empowerment - Through education and support, we enable doctors, patients, carers and families to actively promote wellbeing and maintain quality of life.

Geriatrician

A geriatrician is a specialist physician with over 14 years of hospital training to become MBBS & FRACP qualified. They are experts in the health and wellbeing of older adults, focusing on conditions such as dementia and cognitive decline, frailty, multimorbidity, chronic pain, medication management, and falls prevention. Geriatricians at GCA provide the highest standard of care for people aged 65 and over, helping to optimise health, independence, and quality of life. They work closely with patients, families, and healthcare teams to develop tailored care plans that address complex medical and social needs. Many also contribute to aged care research, ensuring their practice remains at the forefront of evidence-based medicine.

General Practitioner (GP)

GCA’s General Practitioners are highly skilled in delivering comprehensive primary care tailored to the unique needs of older Australians. With expertise in managing chronic conditions, preventative health, and complex multimorbidity, GPs play a crucial role in ensuring continuity of care for patients in residential aged care, community settings, and via telehealth consultations. Our GPs work closely with geriatricians, nurses, allied health professionals, and care coordinators to provide holistic, patient-centred care. They support early intervention, proactive health management, and medication optimisation to enhance the quality of life for older adults. Through their leadership in primary care, GCA’s GPs help bridge gaps in healthcare access and ensure patients receive timely, evidence-based treatment with no out-of-pocket costs.

Registered Nurse (RN)

GCA’s Registered Nurses (RNs) play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to older Australians in residential aged care, community settings, and via telehealth. With advanced clinical skills and a deep understanding of geriatric health, our RNs support patient assessments, chronic disease management, medication reviews, and care planning in collaboration with GPs, geriatricians, and allied health professionals. Beyond direct patient care, GCA’s RNs provide health education, advocate for patient needs, and help coordinate services to ensure seamless, person-centred care. Their expertise enhances health outcomes, promotes independence, and improves the overall quality of life for older adults.

Care Coordination

GCA’s Care Coordinators are experts in medical administration, ensuring seamless support for both patients and healthcare providers. They play a vital role in managing the non-clinical aspects of care, allowing geriatricians to focus on delivering high-quality medical services at the right time and place. This includes scheduling consultations with patients, families, carers, and aged care facilities, as well as handling Medicare billing to ensure there are no out-of-pocket costs for patients. By streamlining communication and logistics, our Care Coordinators help create a smoother healthcare journey for older Australians and their support networks.
